1.0 Why you should attend this workshop
Kenya is experiencing immense growth in every sector of the economy with various companies and organizations investing heavily in machinery and workforce. However there is still challenges in ensuring that the companies and the organizations are safe from fire and this is why the workshop theme “Enhancing the future of organizations’ fire safety” has been coined to bring the industry players and stakeholders together to gain knowledge on the best standard practices, regulations, policies, rules and laws related to fire safety installations and implementations at the workplace. This seminar is therefore geared towards equipping the participants with knowledge and skills to handle emergency installations at the workplace and hands-on experience on the operations of portable and non-portable systems used in fire emergency mitigation phases. The workshop will highlight the importance of making the workplace safer and roles played by both the fire marshals and the fire brigades through role-play scenarios.

1.1 The Objectives of this Seminar
 By the end of this seminar you will be able to:
·         Understand the policies, regulations, and legal frameworks aligned to workplace fire safety management.
·         Understand the procedure in developing an organization and station specific comprehensive fire safety policy.
·         Understand the procedure in developing an organization and station specific fire safety policy statement.
·         Understand fire equipment inspection procedure both internally and externally to determine the role of internal fire marshals and brigade and the external contracted company.
·         Understand fire alarm basic procedures which includes fire alarm activation, basic fire alarm panel readings, error debugging and various fire alarm deactivation procedures.
·         Understand the organization role during the pre and post statutory workplace fire safety audit and its importance to the fire marshals and fire brigade.
·         Understand the procedural framework in executing the various types of workplace evacuation drills using the practical model approach.

·         Learn to use the various tools that are applied in developing the annual fire marshals workplace calendar of activities.
·         Understand the modern trends in fire safety management in Kenya and abroad

·         Workplace fire safety policies, regulations and legal frameworks
·         Understanding the local and international fire safety standards (NFPA)
·         Developing a comprehensive Workplace Fire Safety Policy (WFSP)
·         Developing a Workplace Fire Safety Policy Statement from the WFSP
·         Workplace Portable Fire Equipment Inspection Procedure (Gas Catridge & Pressurized extinguishers, Fire Resistant Blankets, Trolley Fire Extinguishers, Sand Buckets, Fire beaters, First Aid Boxes, ++)
·         Workplace Fixed Fire Installations Inspection Procedure (Hose Reels, Fire Hydrants, Dry and Wet Risers, ++)
·         Role of contractor in workplace fire safety inspection and certification
·         Type of fire alarm systems, the fire alarm procedure, fire alarm model readings and Error debugging
·         Statutory Workplace Fire Safety Audit: Pre and Post Requirements, and importance
·         Workplace evacuation drill: New regulations and requirements before, during and after execution.
