Officials at the airport said the plane had arrived from Juba in Sudan and was likely making a stop-over at the airport for routine servicing. The accident occurred at about midday. It exposed a weakness in disaster preparation at the airport with firefighters taking more than two hours to put out the fire. Officials complained of lack of water to put out the fire as the available water engines had not water.
