6 People Die In Malindi Accident
Six people died and several others escaped with serious injuries on Sunday night following a road accident at Msabaha area along the Malindi-Mombasa highway.
Confirming the 8.30pm incident, Malindi Base Commander Benard Ibaya said that the driver of a canter was trying to avoid hitting a matatu that had stopped to pick passengers when it rammed into an oncoming Nissan shuttle.
Five passengers who were in the Nissan shuttle died on the spot while the turn boy of the canter died while receiving treatment at the Malindi District Hospital.
According to eye witnesses, the driver of the canter was driving recklessly and at a high speed.
The wreckage was towed to Malindi police station.
The area has been marked as a black spot.
Drivers have been urged to drive at a maximum speed of 40km/hr and especially at night to avoid more road accidents.
