Traders lost goods worth millions in Gikomba fire



Fire on Monday night gutted the popular Gikomba market in Nairobi.Traders lost goods worth millions of shillings after the fire burnt down their stallsThe fire started around 7pm and lasted for more than an hour. The cause of fire was not immediately established.
The market is mainly used by traders dealing in cereals, clothing, beddings and food stuff. Fire fighters arrived at the scene and attempted to put out the inferno but were overwhelmed. Some of the traders who arrived early managed to salvage a few of their goods. A woman suspected to have been one of the affected traders fainted when she saw the extent of damage. She was assisted by members of the public.
