Fourteen
people were Wednesday morning treated for minor injuries and released
after they were caught up in an inferno at the Mukuru Kwa Reuben slum in
Nairobi.
The 8am fire spread from a permanent structure to the slum houses even as fire fighters with the Nairobi City County tried to contain it. The fire kept spreading which forced the addition of two other engines to battle the blaze that has since been contained.
The fire comes less than 24 hours after another at the Mukuru Kayaba informal settlement which destroyed property of unknown value.
"Two hundred families were affected and eight people evacuated to the Kenyatta National Hospital," said Kenya Red Cross Society Emergency operations officer Nick Thuo.
The cause of the two incidents are yet to be established.
