SIPILI Secondary School in Laikipia county has been closed indefinitely. This follows an incident where fire burned down a dormitory.Sh2 million worth property was burned in the inferno. A source said the fire could have been lit by students who were suspended over indiscipline.An eye witnesses said only property belonging to slightly over 62 students were salvaged.Sources told the Star that four suspended boys had attempted to burn the dormitory on Monday night but were caught by the principal Charles Gachoya.Gachoya said the incident occurred when the school's management executive committee was held in a meeting over the suspended boys.

"It was reported that two boys were spotted entering the school compound but fled after seeing Gachoya," a witness said. Police kept vigil at the school for the better part of the day."The suspects must have been monitoring the security officers’ movement and sneaked back into the school moments after the officers left for another assignment," an officer said.They doused the wooden dormitory with petrol before setting it on fire as students were in classes. Speaking on the phone yesterday, Gachoya said three suspects have been arrested and are helping police with investigations.Police have launched investigations into the matter.
