Fire extinguishers are usually designed
in various weights ranging from as low as 1kg or 1litre to as high as 120kg or
120Litre. Fire extinguishers with heavier weights are designed to have wheels
hence commonly referred to as trolley fire extinguishers. These trolleys are
usually the common types as discussed below:
CABORN
MONOXIDE TROLLEY FIRE EXTINGUISHERS
Suitable for use on Class B and Class C
fires. TYPICAL USES: For protecting sensitive electronic equipment in
refineries, shipboard, laboratories, construction sites, chemical plants and
manufacturing facilities.
DRY
CHEMICAL TYPE TROLLEY FIRE EXTINGUISHERS
TYPICAL USES: Offshore rigs, ship docks,
refineries, chemical plants, aircraft ramps, remote construction sites, large
laboratories, processing plants, storage and loading areas. Not for use on
sensitive electronic equipment. Dry chemical wheeled units are available for
Class A, Class B and Class C fires.
FOAM
TYPE TROLLEY EXTINGUISHERS
Foam is suitable for use on Class A, Class B and
Class C fires. TYPICAL USES: For protecting sensitive electronic equipment in
research facilities, vehicle/aircraft/ marine service centers, and flight lines.
