NITA will no longer accredit Statutory Trainings in Kenya


 NITA WILL NO LONGER GIVE ACCREDITATION

The National Industrial Training Authority (NITA) will no longer accredit statutory trainings, this according to a public notice placed on local dailies in Kenya. NITA which was established under the Industrial Training (Amendment) Act No.34 of 2011 has the mandate to promote the highest standards in the quality and efficiency of industrial training in Kenya and ensure an adequate supply of property and trained manpower at all levels in industry.

The training which will no longer require accreditation are listed as:
  • Occupational Health and Safety Courses
  • First Aid Courses
  • Fire Prevention and Safety Courses
According to the notice, effective 25th June 2014 any institution offering these courses will no longer require NITA accreditation as has been the practice and all related accredited institutions will be removed from NITA list on the same date. It also further states that employers registered under NITA will not need to seek approval to undertake these courses as the costs accruing from such will no longer be reimbursable.
